Winter Solstice | For the Makers

Funny story – my sister has been misspelling bracelet (bracket) in her texts to me all week! But every time I correct her I spelled it “braclet” – only to realize today that I was leaving off the E in bracElet! Ah well that’s what happens when you give people a hard time about things right? Lesson learned about feeling better than someone, even when the issue is so miniscule.

So, in any case, I have been waiting with bated breath for my new For the Makers box to arrive. I had initially hesitated at the price point ($29/month), but after looking at their entire collection of boxes from the past year+ I decided to take the leap, and boy was I glad I did. I was especially hopeful that it would arrive just after my qualifying exam (I passed by the way!!!) and IT DID! Perfect timing. I bust that bad boy open immediately to see what was inside – and let me say, I was major league impressed!

The quality of the materials included just blew me away! Really nice, heavy weight gilded curb chain, german glass glitter, vintage rhinestones, beautiful glass bugle beads – I really felt like I got my money’s worth (AND MORE) from this box. I am so excited to get started on these crafts. The only reason I didn’t get started right away was that I’m still trying to complete all my christmas presents so I’m prioritizing!

This month’s collection was themed “Winter Solstice” and included four awesome projects:

Never fear, however! I will post updates on the finished pieces as they are done – I got the idea to frame the mercury initial so I’m brainstorming the best background and frame for that. It’s going to be an awesome addition to my DIY Ikea-Hack desk (it has an art shelf with undershelf tract lighting.. #natch)

This looks like a great subscription! I’m not a crafty person maybe in another life I’ll give it a whirl – we’ll see where the future seasons take me! I subscribe to Birchbox and that makes me happy as I haven’t had to buy beauty products in months and have a ton of samples of goodies which makes great goodie gifts for any hostesses and girl friends! Again congrats on passing girlie and enjoy your crafting!! Have a great one! -Iva

Oh yeah I love Birchbox – I justified the subscription to my husband as a “well it gives me something to blog about each month” ha ha. But seriously it’s awesome.

The thing I like most about these craft boxes though is that they tell you step by step how to make it look just like theirs (much less chance of a “Nailed It!” moment) because left to my own devices it’s not pretty sometimes ha ha
